Product Description The trend in skis these days is like the trend in neckties during the 70?s. They just keep getting fatter. So we invented the FatCat series. No other family of racks can handle wider skis and boards quite like this.
Amazon.com Product Description The current trend in skis is just like the necktie trend in the '70s--they just keep getting fatter. That's why Yakima released the six-ski FatCat rooftop carrier, which is wide enough for six pairs of fat skis or four snowboards. The FatCat boasts a low-profile mounting system that works on round bars, square bars, and most factory roof racks right out of the box. The carrier's massive jaws and unique hinge system, meanwhile, hold your skis and boards comfortably and securely.
Thanks to the FatCat's aerodynamic shape, you won't suffer from poor gas mileage on the highway, nor will the carrier make annoying whistling sounds as you drive. Other details include an integrated SkiLift feature that easily clears tall bindings, rubber edging that's gentle on your gear, and SKS compatibility. The FatCat carries a one-year warranty.
Customer Reviews:
Quiet wide rack.January 18, 2008 We needed a rack that was wide enough for 4 snowboards. This carrier is longer than the average 4 board carrier leaving more room between the boards so that they don't cut up the other board's high backs.
hinges on this rack are spring loaded to self adjust to the thickness of the items being carried. The rack is a lot quieter than our old one a Yakima promo rack.
fat cat's pretty coolJanuary 18, 2008 great for transporting skis, poles and boards. drove up east coast hitting several ski slopes in a week without any problems. easier than attaching bike racks that for sure.
Nice Rack!!September 6, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I owned the Yakima Big Powderhound racks before these and they created a bit of wind noise at speed. The Fatcat 6 has the same capacity and no noise!! They also look pretty cool on my vehicle.
