Durable, Non-Waterproof Paddling GloveMay 23, 2008 I purchased the Harbinger Adventure Series Stroke P.S.2 gloves to replace my previous paddling gloves--a pair of Mechanix gloves that I "borrowed" from my tool chest. I'm glad I did.
The internal fingers and palms of the P.S.2 gloves are covered with durable rubber, which prevents blisters--unlike many other paddling gloves. The external fingers and area below the wrist are covered with a thick foam/nylon that prevents you from the common scrapes and bruises when you hit your hands off the side of the kayak. The remainder of the gloves are constructed of a soft yet durable fleece-like material (as a result, the gloves are not waterproof), which offers comfort. Thanks to the rubber and padding, the P.S.2 gloves offer fantastic protection for your hands.
When you first put on the P.S.2 gloves, you'll notice that the construction materials make the gloves a little stiff. Over time, however, you will break in these materials. In addition to breaking in the gloves over time, you most likely will not notice the stiffness when gripping a paddle. Instead, you notice it the most when you make a tight fist.
My only complaint is the color--lime green isn't exactly my first choice when selecting the color of anything. But, the P.S.2 gloves' protection, comfort (over time), and price make the color seem quite bearable.
