Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The acuArmor.com EXTREME model Kevlar Insert is designed to fit into the knee and elbow pockets that are standard in the new Military Uniforms - ACUs (Advanced Combat Uniform). They fit both ACU trousers and ACU shirts in all sizes in addition to fitting most TRU uniforms with integrated knee/elbow pad pockets. The Inserts can be used with or without the Military issue foam-rubber pads or most after-market pads.Designed with 7 layers of battlefield tested Kevlar (3 cut/fragment resistant layers and 4 puncture resistant layers) these pads are designed for environments like battlefields, where razor wire, metal and concrete shards, wooden slivers, broken glass and flying fragments are a given. Perfect for Military, Special Forces and SWAT where knee and elbow protection is a requirement. Ideal for EMS, Rescue and Fire personnel where hazardous crash sites and exposure to blood-transmitted diseases are a constant threat. Also a huge advantage for Police and Security where low profile/non-threatening dress and high risk situations go hand in hand. More comfortable than slide-on knee pads, they stay in position no matter what you do. They are much cooler, don't create skin rashes and don't interfere with the IR pattern of ACUs. Flexible and silent, they are invisible once inserted in the pockets.Up to 170x more cut resistant and 80x more abrasion resistant, these inserts also provide significant puncture resistance (they'll bend nails without penetration), protection from flying fragments and hot surfaces. Whether you work in a high risk environment or are looking for the perfect gift for a loved one or friend who does, these Kevlar Inserts are a must-have.
Customer Reviews:
You only get one pair of knees....November 16, 2007 Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes. I was hesitant to spend the cash until I saw a friend kneel down in a bunch of broken glass... He might run again, he might not.
So I plunked down the cash. They shipped the next day (thank you) and I got them 3 days later (wish UPS shipped to APOs...). I couldn't resist playing with them and took my knife to a small section of one corner (yes, it voided my warranty, but hey, you only get one set of knees)... and they are everything they claim. No puncture, no cuts. Duct tape over the little case cut, into the ACUs and I'm off, with one less thing to worry about. Next paycheck I'm getting a pair for the elbows.
Bonus - they block heat. You can kneel on hot metal and not feel a thing. Plus you don't get the &*#$ rashes you get get from the straps of hard pads.
