Customer Reviews:
Distinctive and affordableNovember 20, 2008 This is a great package from ChessCentral for the tournament chessplayer; the Staunton-style pieces are the preferred design for rated chess events. But beyond that, the vinyl board is terrific for travelling. The real disctinction of this set is the red color of the (traditionally "black") pieces, reducing the chances of players at adjacent boards accidentally picking up an extra Black piece out of your set. Even beyond that point the pieces are eye-catching and attractive in their own right.
Perfect giftSeptember 29, 2008 The Red Imperial - First thing is the red and white pieces. The red really stands out compared to the traditional black. The red is what originally caught my eye, then the price jumped out. I had to have it. Try it, you'll not regret it.
