Yak FairingNovember 21, 2007 I was skeptical when adding this to my rack but 2 days after installing crossbars on my honda civic hybrid, I couldnt hear anything but witd and I watched my gas mileage plummit, so I invested 30$ into a fairing and back to "good as new" condition. If you have a yak rack, get a fairing!!!
Oh So Quiet!November 3, 2007 My spouse discouraged me from buying a fairing when I purchased the roof rack. BOY was it loud! Without a fairing it makes an incredibly ethereal howling noise if you drive above 30 MPH. The guys at REI suggested wrapping string around the poles. That did help a bit but nothing can compare to the fairing. I have to admit that I was skeptical at first but then it went on sale at amazon and so I bought it. I am SO glad I did. What a difference it makes. No more howling. It's not silent but it's close enough for the convenience of having a roof rack. Don't hesitate. If you get the roof rack, get the fairing.
Yakima 44" FairingOctober 17, 2007 The shipping was fast and arrived in great shape. The Yakima fairing is a great addition to my rack and eliminated the noises associated with the wind going through the bars, bike, etc.
Yakima FairingJuly 24, 2007 Excellent! Ended the trouble with excess noise from the racks! But that may have been only becasue the sun roof is always opened! May not be needed if your vehicle comes w/o sunroof.
works as advertised, should have done this years agoJuly 3, 2007 as others have said, this product does a remarkable job of eliminating wind noise and turbulence generated by Yakima roof racks. Remarkably, it even works with a canoe on the rack, which was quite unexpected. This is a must-have product for any yakima roof rack. The service and price were excellent as well.
