excellent for taijiApril 24, 2008 Just got a pair which I use for Chen style Taiji. They are extremely comfortable -- the kangaroo leather is definitely worth the premium over the usual sneaker material. The main potential problem is the arch, which either hits you in a good place or -- it doesn't. If that part fits, you will absolutely love these shoes. They're particularly good for Taiji because they're wider across the instep than most martial arts shoes, giving you a broader "footprint" and thus more stability.

I have been wearing Sambas for literally the last 10 years of my life. They are a fantastic shoe, comfortable, good looking, and durable. (awesome driving shoe as well) I just recently got a pair of Samba K's, and there is no turning back. Sure the leather is softer and they are slightly more comfortable, but the best part? The inside of the tab on the back (where you slide your heal into) is no longer cloth, it is leather. This was always the first to go on my Sambas, the cloth would start to rip, the padding come out, but now that it is leather, it is much more durable and the shoe lasts forever. Perfection!
