Become your own Mechanic April 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are going to get serious about using your bike to commute to and from work or doing those long rides on the weekends, then you might just want to begin doing your own maintenance. I purchased this tool set 2 weeks ago and with the help of Park Tool's online repair help, I overhauled both of my bikes. This tool set contains about everything you need, only items missing are some tools required for vintage parts (pre 90's). Save yourself the hassle and expense of going to the LBS because you do not have the tools required to strip any part off of your frame.
The genuine and the clones October 21, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
The AK-37 is the genuine article, from Park, at $250 USD or more ...however, I decided to go for the cloned tool box, from Sette Torx, model ST-32, for half that price.
The only difference, I can see, is the lack of lube bottle, lube toothpaste-style tube, the 3 screwdrivers which the Torx tool box lacks, and 3 or 4 more tools that Torx contains which Park doesn't, some of which are very useful, only found on the higher end Park Tool Box, PK-63.
Overall, a great value for those who know better than to let a bicycle "rot unmaintained" for years on end, but prefer to examine all components multiple times a year, and apply the maintenance required for optimal performance.
For parts, obviously there are online stores that will sell you the needed crank, derailleurs, cassette, bottom brackets, etc.
